ANDROID HONEYCOMB -NEW OPERATING SYSTEM IN 2011

We have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that CES 2011 is officially over but the good news is that we learned about some very important trends in technology at this time and took a peak at some of the amazing gadgets we can get our hands on in 2011. One of the major pieces of news at this year’s edition of CES was related to the new Motorola XOOM tablet and, of course, the latest version of Google’s operating system: Android Honeycomb.

This 3.0 version of Android is actually optimized for tablets so you can be sure that more and more tablet manufacturers will be adopting Honeycomb as their tablet’s operating system. LG and Toshiba are two manufacturers that already announced their intentions to include this latest version of the Android operating system into their tablets. The Motorola XOOM was capable of giving us a better view of the features that you get along with this operating system.

Compared to other operating systems, like Gingerbread or Froyo, Honeycomb was the only operating system designed from scratch specifically for tablets. As promised, the XOOM tablet will be available on Verizon and it will run the Google Android Honeycomb operating system. According to CNET, Motorola’s XOOM has won the “Best of CES” award so you have to appreciate a good gadget when you see it. People interested in buying the XOOM will have to wait just a couple more months, as this tablet will be available in the first quarter of 2011.

Since Motorola has been giving exclusivity for the moment in using Honeycomb on its tablets, it had better start selling fast until Google gives the rights to distribute Honeycomb to other tablet manufacturers as well.  Not to panic, there will surely be dozens of tablets running the new Android Honeycomb by the end of 2011 so if you can’t get your hands on the XOOM, all you need is a drop of patience.
